Mapped in Bangladesh
Mapped in Bangladesh is a research/census initiative that is mapping the ready-made garment (RMG) sector in Bangladesh, covering factories that are directly/indirectly export-oriented, have core RMG processes, and are doing subcontract work or are members of major associations. It aims to be a transparency mechanism enabling accountability of the sector. The program partners include BGMEA and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) under the Bangladesh Ministry of Labour and Employment (MOLE).
There is currently a beta version of the map alive with Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj district data. The data collection for the map is census-based and will eventually move towards crowdsourcing for data update. The final map with 20 garment districts is expected in mid-2021.
