Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety
The Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety (Alliance) was a five-year program that aimed to improve safety in Bangladeshi ready-made garment (RMG) factories that ended on December 31, 2018. The aim of the Alliance was to improve worker safety by upgrading factories, educating workers and management, empowering workers, and building institutions to enforce and maintain safe working conditions throughout Bangladesh.
The Alliance conducted factory safety assessments in all ready-made garment (RMG) factories producing for its members in Bangladesh. The factory’s desktop evidence submissions were verified during onsite factory visits, conducted by both the Alliance team and third-party engineering firms.
The Alliance remediation program aimed to improve structural integrity, electrical and fire safety by guiding factories through the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) process. The Alliance has posted inspection reports and CAPs along with factory statuses updated till December 31, 2018.
