Activating Change in the Apparel Industry | ICAR

Apparel Data Directory

Knowledge is power, information is liberating

Collaborating with non-profits to activate change

Times are changing. Transparency and sustainable fashion are trending. Clothing companies need to be held accountable.

The goal of the Apparel Data Directory is to connect organizations advocating for change in the apparel industry with important and relevant public information related to labor rights in the apparel industry. Our vision is to see advocates utilize this database as a tool in their efforts to push for governments, companies and other stakeholders to improve working conditions. We also hope our database is used to help organizations learn about each other’s work and find ways to collaborate.

More than just data

This project is so much more than an online database. It is an integral tool for change in the apparel industry. This database represents a collaborative effort arising out of a roundtable hosted by ICAR and C&A Foundation in October 2016.

To align with our goals, we’ve only included data that relates to the apparel industry and is freely accessible to anyone. All of the data included is in a standardized format – entities must be named to ensure accountability and data must be updated on an ongoing basis to enable comparison between entities over time. Let’s work together towards a future of better regulations and greater compliance among apparel companies.
